What Are Pilates Classes?

Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century as a system of physical conditioning. It combines elements of yoga, ballet, and calisthenics into precise, flowing movements that work your entire body.

Each exercise focuses on alignment, breathing, and control. You will use your own body weight for resistance, and some sessions include props like resistance bands and small balls. Pilates complements yoga well and is a great addition to any fitness routine.

Benefits of Pilates

Muscle Strengthening & Stretching

Pilates builds strength through controlled movement rather than heavy lifting. Each exercise lengthens and strengthens muscles at the same time, creating long, lean muscle tone without bulk.

Promotes Flexibility

The flowing movements in Pilates gradually increase your range of motion. Over time, everyday movements become easier and you will notice less stiffness in your joints and muscles.

Improving Posture

Core-focused exercises strengthen the muscles that support your spine. Better posture means less back pain, more confidence, and improved breathing throughout your day.
